In This Picture: Durbar Square, Kathmandu

Durbar Squate - Kathmandu

Located near the center of Kathmandu (Nepal), Durbar Square is a collection of temples and other ancient buildings that serves in many way as the spiritual capital of the city.  While it also acts as one of the tourist centers and the event center for many of Nepal’s special ceremonies, it is also in a neighborhood teeming full of regular everyday life—markets, restaurants, schools and local people.

Thousand year old temples, draped in pigeons and complete with wandering cows, beggars, Hindu priests, swamis, and tourists, its chaos, grandeur and eccentricities capture well my overall impressions of Nepal.
